Recommended Patterns
Throughout the 18th century shifts were cut from one length of fabric, by measurements, and to economize as much as possible. If you want to do this without purchasing a pattern, I would recommend doing a google search for cutting diagram options available.
In this class I will be using the Kannik's Korner Women's Shift c.1750-1800 pattern. I chose this as it represents the primary cut of a shift in the century and will do well for most of your ensembles from 1740s to 1790. You can, of course, select a different pattern or cut from a diagram layout as desired and still use the class tutorials and instructions to sew your shift.
